These days, it’s not that difficult at all to find somewhere to buy cheap organizers. So many retail stores and online companies sell so many types of organizers that they have to make sure they sell at a good price in order to get you to buy from their company. They’re easy to manufacture and they last a very long time. Just make sure you take proper care of them and make sure not to store anything in them that will eat away at the plastic or cause the bins to crack. Any department store or major retail store will sell containers of this sort so they’re very easy to find.

A good friend of mine from high school has been in and out of different rehab facilities for the better part of the last six and a half years.  He has a serious prescription drug abuse problem, in addition to struggling with alcohol, marijuana and cocaine.  It seems like every time he comes back from rehab he brings a worse drug problem back with him.  The first time he went it was just for alcohol, marijuana and pills, but after he came back he had also developed a cocaine habit.  I do not get how that is possible.  It is really hard to see him in such poor condition, because he was such a happy go lucky kid.  Now it has gotten to the point where one of my friends called me and said that he thinks we should kill our friend before he has a chance to kill himself.  I know that he was not really serious, but it made me realize how badly people feel about the situation.  It even got so bad as to the point that our friend overdosed somewhere in between New Orleans where he lived then and Lehigh where he was going to visit a friend.  A maid found him unconscious in a motel room.     

I know I switched on my home security system last night.  I know it.  I do it every single night.  I can’t sleep if I don’t.  I put a few thousand dollars into that home security system so I want to use it every night and not just to be safe.  I don’t want to think that I’ve wasted any money. But when I came home from work today, I found my Nintendo missing.  And it’s not one of those newer models with games that have all those fancy graphics and loud booming sounds.  No, this is a Nintendo from back in the 80’s;  The first kind.  The original.  What all my friends and I remember playing Super Mario Brothers on and not Super Mario World or Galaxy or Universe or whatever. I think it’s even worth more than my home security system. And now it’s gone.  Nothing else was taken.  Just that.  Someone broke it and got through my home security system just for that.  Unbelievable. I’m thinking it had to be one of my friends.  They could pull off an inside job like this.  They might even be able to guess my security code, which is “Save the princess.”  They’d definitely want to get their hands on that beautiful old Nintendo.  If they had one, I’d want to steal it.

“I would definitely recommend lasik eye surgery for you,” I told Nina.  She looked horrified.  “Surgery? You’ve got to be kidding!”  No, I explained to her, if your doctor told you that your smoking is affecting your eyesight, you’re going to have to do something about that.  But Nina looked like she never wanted to set foot in a hospital again.  She told me the story of how she was in a car accident where she was the passenger.  She was in the hospital in critical condition for three nights, and they were, according to Nina, the worst three nights she’d ever spent.  For one thing, her roommate just would not stop blabbering.  All day, all evening, and all night I tried to converse with her about this, that and the other.  Not to mention all those nurses, doctors, and staff coming in and interrupting what little peace and quiet she had.  The food was terrible; No, she insisted, I don’t want to be sent back to that lousy hospital again!  “What if I told you that you would only have to be there for a few hours at the most?”  I said.  “My brother had this done to him and he was there for about two hours, including the registration.”  “Really.”  Nina looked like she just might consider it.

My mother has had diabetes since I was in middle school, and despite the fact that I exercise regularly and eat healthy, she is always worried that I am going to develop diabetes as well.  Once in a while she will give me a blood glucose test that measures the glucose levels in my blood.  Sometimes it will be a fasting test, and others she will do it after I have eaten a meal.  They always come out normal, but she worries about me nonetheless.  I guess that is something that comes with the job of being a mother.  She has been like that my whole life.  Always worrying about my brother and I much more than she has to.  When I was growing up, if I did something bad I always told her first, because I knew she either would not tell my father, or at least she would not yell at me as much.  If I ever did poorly in a class in college, or something happened that I would need to drop the class, she always understood.  I think she was a very similar student when she was in college, so she sympathized with me.  Sometimes she is too overprotective, but I still love her no matter what.

When people think of the arts or a school of the arts they most likely think of painting, drawing, sculptures, and occasionally even music, however, there is a field in the arts that is often overlooked by individuals, the theater as a whole, actors, lights, and set.

Theater, the acting portion of it that is, is often thought of not as part of the arts but as a skill, something that can be acquired, something anyone with enough time and money can be taught to do well. It takes talent in the arts to deliver that line correctly, or with the proper breath, power, and depth in those words if you will. 

Behind the actors as well, setting the mood and place, one can find multiple fields of the arts. Without the set and lighting design even the best actors seem drab. Just the color of light, or the color of the gels in front of the lights to be precise, can have the biggest effect on the mood of a scene or even entire play. For instance if a character is, say, really greedy the costume designer might have the character in green. If the same character turns out to be evil, as many greedy characters are in plays and films, the lighting designer may chose to light him, or the characters scene, in red light. The mixture of the two colors will make the character’s garb seem black and menacing. Just like music, the colors have a psychological effect and make us feel a certain way.

Lastly, the set plays an integral role in making theater a part of the arts. If a you have the worlds best actor, say Philip Seymour Hoffman, performing on stage – at the top of his game – it means nothing, absolutely nothing at all, if the set around him isn’t artistically done and accurate for whatever scene he is performing. The set most not just be a bunch of wood nailed together and painted over with funky lines and colors – the set has to have life and the only people who can create life from nothing are artists. 

There are always new and exciting things going on in the arts, regardless of field or medium, or even one’s personal taste. Everyday things are significantly more “artsy” than they appear if one really thinks about it.
